Who we are
She Drives is operated by She Drives Training LLC, a California limited liability company. Our website address is https://shedrivesofficial.com.
If you have questions about this policy or about how we handle your information, contact us at renee@shedrivesofficial.com.
[OPTIONAL: INSERT MAILING ADDRESS. See note at the end of this document before filling this in.]
What this policy covers
This policy explains what information we collect when you visit our website, submit a form, or communicate with us, and what we do with it.
It does not cover information you provide to third-party services we link to, including our community platform, which is operated by Skool. When you leave our website for another service, that service’s own privacy policy governs the information you give them.
Information we collect
Information collected automatically when you visit
Like most websites, our web server and the services embedded in our pages receive certain information automatically when you load a page. This includes:
- Your IP address
- Your browser type and version
- Your device type and operating system
- The pages you visit on our site and the time and date of your visit
- The website or link that referred you to us
Information you give us directly
We collect information you choose to submit through forms on our website or by emailing us.
If you apply to join our captain network, we collect the information you provide in the application, which may include your name, email address, phone number, city and state, the type of mariner credential you hold, your credential number and expiration date, whether you carry professional liability insurance, information about where and how you teach, and any background information you choose to share.
If you join a customer waitlist or request information about training, we collect the information you provide, which may include your first name, email address, city and state, whether you have access to a boat, and any comments you choose to share about your goals or concerns on the water.
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message.
Payment information
When booking becomes available, payments are processed by Stripe. We do not collect or store your full payment card number. Stripe receives that information directly and processes it under its own privacy policy, available at https://stripe.com/privacy. We receive limited transaction information from Stripe, such as confirmation that a payment succeeded, the amount, and the last four digits of the card.
Information we do not collect
We do not knowingly collect precise geolocation data, biometric information, government identification numbers other than the mariner credential information captains voluntarily provide in their applications, or information about your race, religion, health, or sexual orientation.
How we use your information
We use the information we collect to:
- Respond to your questions and communicate with you
- Review captain applications and verify that applicants hold the credentials and coverage they state
- Connect people seeking training with independent captains in their area
- Send updates by email to people who have asked to receive them
- Process and confirm bookings and payments
- Understand how visitors use our website so we can improve it
- Meet our legal and tax obligations
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Who we share information with
We share information only in the circumstances described below.
Independent captains
She Drives operates as a marketplace. The captains in our network are independent contractors, not employees or staff of She Drives. When you book or request a session, we share the information necessary to arrange it with the specific captain involved, which typically includes your name, contact information, location, and what you have told us about your goals and experience level. Each captain is responsible for her own handling of that information.
Service providers
We use third-party services to operate the website and the business. Each receives only the information needed to perform its function:
| Service | Purpose | Their privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| GoDaddy | Website hosting | https://www.godaddy.com/legal/agreements/privacy-policy |
| Google (Tag Manager, Fonts) | Website analytics and typography | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| Stripe | Payment processing | https://stripe.com/privacy |
| Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Sheets) | Email and internal records | https://policies.google.com/privacy |
| Automattic (Gravatar) | Profile images, where applicable | https://automattic.com/privacy/ |
| Skool | Community platform, hosted separately | https://www.skool.com/privacy |
[VERIFY: Confirm which tags are currently active inside the Google Tag Manager container. If Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, or any other tracking tag is live, name it explicitly in the table above.]
Legal reasons
We may disclose information if we are required to by law, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our legal rights, investigate fraud, or respond to a claim.
Business transfers
If She Drives Training LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information we hold may be transferred as part of that transaction. We would notify you before your information became subject to a different privacy policy.
Cookies and tracking technologies
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are small files stored on your device.
We use them to keep the site functioning correctly, and, through Google Tag Manager, to understand how visitors find and use the site.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you refuse cookies or delete existing ones. Some parts of the site may not work as expected if you disable them.
We currently do not respond to browser Do Not Track signals, because no common standard for interpreting them has been adopted.
How long we keep your information
We keep information for as long as we need it for the purposes described in this policy, and afterward as required for legal, tax, or record-keeping reasons.
In practice:
- Captain applications and credential records are retained for as long as the captain is active in our network, and for [INSERT PERIOD, e.g. seven years] afterward
- Booking and payment records are retained for [INSERT PERIOD, e.g. seven years] to meet tax and accounting requirements
- Waitlist and inquiry information is retained until you ask us to delete it, or until it is no longer useful, whichever comes first
- Email subscribers are retained until you unsubscribe
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights over the personal information we hold about you. We extend the following rights to everyone who contacts us, regardless of your state of residence.
You may ask us to:
- Tell you what we have collected, including the categories of information, where we got it, why we collected it, and who we shared it with
- Give you a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- Correct information that is inaccurate
- Delete personal information we hold about you, subject to information we are required to keep for legal, tax, or security reasons
- Limit how we use sensitive information, where applicable
We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front. If that ever changes, this policy will be updated before it does.
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights. Making a request will not affect your ability to book a session, join the community, or apply as a captain.
How to make a request
Email renee@shedrivesofficial.com with the subject line “Privacy Request.”
We will confirm receipt within ten business days and respond substantively within forty-five days. If we need more time, we will tell you why and how much longer we expect to take.
We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request, usually by confirming that you control the email address associated with the information. If someone is making a request on your behalf, we will ask for proof that you authorized them.
Children
Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18.
If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us at renee@shedrivesofficial.com and we will delete it.
Security
We use commercially reasonable measures to protect the information we hold, including encrypted connections to our website and access controls on our internal records.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Links to other websites
Our website links to services we do not control, including our community platform on Skool and the websites of independent captains and partners. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. We encourage you to read their policies before providing information to them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our business and our services change. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
If we make a change that materially affects how we handle information we already hold about you, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you directly.

Questions about this policy, or about your information:
NOTES FOR NICK, DELETE BEFORE PUBLISHING
1. The mailing address field. A physical address is common in privacy policies but is not required for a policy to be accurate or useful. Options, in order of preference:
- Leave it out entirely and rely on the email contact
- Use a registered agent or virtual business address
- Use a PO box
I would not publish a home address. Once it is indexed and scraped it is effectively permanent, and this is a brand whose entire audience is women.
2. Placeholders to fill or delete:
- Effective date and last updated date, both at the top
- Mailing address, or delete the line
- Two retention periods in the “How long we keep your information” section
- The GTM verification note in the service provider table
3. Verify what is inside your GTM container. The container is live and firing. If Google Analytics 4 or the Meta Pixel are already configured inside it, they should be named explicitly in the table. If the container is empty, the table is accurate as written. This is the single item most likely to make the policy inaccurate.
4. Sections that activate later. The captain application, waitlist, and payment sections describe collection that begins when those forms and Stripe Connect go live. Publishing them now is standard and means the policy does not need revising the week those pages ship. Nothing in them is a claim about the present.
5. Deliberately excluded. Comments, user registration, password resets, and comment moderation, all of which appear in the WordPress default text. You do not have any of those enabled.
6. Brand rules observed. No em dashes. The word “certified” does not appear. Captains are described as independent contractors, never as employees or staff. No claim that She Drives insures captains or clinics.
7. This is an interim document. It is written to be accurate, not to substitute for counsel. Send it to Will with the rest of the stack. A privacy policy is a disclosure rather than a contract, so publishing an accurate version now and revising after review is normal practice.
